it's me or the dog

It has come to light that not everyone is playing fair on this community and as a result I have had to introduce some basic rules.  Those of which can be found on the info page so please do make yourself familiar with them as failure to comply may result in you being removed from this community indefinitely.

This community was created with the intention to help fellow dog owners with any problems that they may have with their dogs.  Nothing more.

Please feel free to tell us about any behavioural issues you are experiencing with your canine companions but please, anything other than this, I'm sure there are other communities willing to accomodate you.

it's me or the dog

Just a quick note to welcome all those new comers to this Community and a big thank you too.  I hope we all enjoy our conversations on here and get something out of it.

I would like to start the theme of the community off by letting you know about a problem I have with one of my dogs.  He's Kayo and is a 2 year old entire male Malamute.  The problem is when he sees another dog.  He gets so excited and proceeds to roar at the other dog to get his attention and also tries to haul me in the dog's general direction.  Its not aggressive in any way although this is often the interpretation other dog owners have and seem to vacate the area pretty sharpish which doesn't really bother me its just it would be nice to be able to walk him without dreading meeting another dog.

Any suggestions?

ps that's him in my icon btw...

Introduction [Sep. 27th, 2006|04:52 pm]
it's me or the dog

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I'm Anne and I live in Michigan, US. My husband and I are 'parents' to two cats and one dog. The dog is Kyle, he's a little over a year old and as far as we can tell he's of the Kyle Breed. Read- we have no clue. He was a stray that got picked up by animal control- he was with them for almost a month when we adopted him this past June. So his early history is a mystery. According to animal control he's a Chow-Black Lab mix. His size however belies that, he's only 42 lbs, as does his tail and general coat length. I think he's got some border collie or spitz breed in there somewhere.

So hi!

Welcome to the community dedicated to your dogs and their behaviour. Whether it be behavioural issues you have, or are just curious about a certain antic of your dog, post it here and someone may have the answer.

I'm Andrew from Wales and I have 4 dogs. 1 Border Collie, Buddie just 5 months old, 2 Alaskan Malamutes, Kiska, a bitch who is almost 3, Kayo, a dog, who is 22 nearly 2 and last but not least, Koda who is a Malamute-Akita cross, oh he's almost 3 too.
